When you’re stuck in people pleasing, it’s often like saying… “I'd rather lose myself than deal with the thought of losing you.”&nbsp; “I’m not sure who I am, so I’ll become who I think you want me to be.”&nbsp; “I’m scared of facing your rejection, so I’ll reject my own needs first.”&nbsp; “What you think of me feels more important than what I think of myself.”&nbsp; “I only feel good enough when I believe I have your approval.”&nbsp;Say this with me 📣"Boundaries are not mean."  "I will survive if I’m not liked."I know it’s uncomfortable, but seriously, say them! You need to know this. 👏🏻People-pleasing may seem like it keeps you safe and connected, but it creates a cycle of self-abandonment that leaves you feeling empty and insecure. Over time, suppressing your own needs and desires leads to resentment, anxiety, and a constant undercurrent of dissatisfaction. You end up navigating life on other people’s terms instead of your own, leading to a deep disconnect from who you really are. It’s exhausting! 🥱&nbsp;Boundaries are acts of self-respect – Setting boundaries doesn’t mean you’re selfish; it means you’re honoring your own needs and values. Think of yourself like a home 🏠: your energy and well-being are valuable, and boundaries are the front gate. They’re not barriers to keep people out but guidelines for how others can approach you respectfully.   Setting boundaries keeps you steady, making sure you’re not drained so that you can continue to be there for the people who are important to you. A simple “no” or a clear line reminds both you and others that access to you is valuable. It’s a way of honoring your own needs so that what you give is genuine, not stretched thin.Discomfort isn’t dangerous – It’s going to feel uncomfortable when breaking old people-pleasing patterns, especially if you fear others’ disapproval. But remember, discomfort isn’t dangerous‼️ Learning to tolerate it shows you that you can survive—and even thrive—without everyone’s approval. You are not entitled to your way just because you let people know what you want.&nbsp;Authenticity is NOT about getting to say or do whatever you want because that's how you felt in the moment. That’s just a lack of maturity and we all know how much fun it is to be in a relationship with immature people.&nbsp;Authenticity IS&nbsp; ✨Knowing yourself and being able to express your desires, wants, and needs&nbsp; ✨Not having to cater to or pretend with people all the time ✨Building true connection through being seen and known by those close to youAuthenticity allows everyone to contribute and CHOOSE how to support each other. “Fitting in is the opposite of belonging. Fitting in is about assessing a situation and becoming who you need to be to be accepted. It's easy to get caught up in the "What if this is 'The One?'" mindset. But here's the thing: you don't need to know if you want to marry this person within the first three dates, or even the first ten. Trust and real connection take time to build. Take a deep breath and remind yourself that it's okay to simply enjoy getting to know someone without placing unrealistic expectations on the outcome. What Does Friendship Look Like? </h3>Picture this: it's the absolute worst day of your life, everything is going wrong and you need HELP! Is this person someone you want by your side? When considering a potential partner, think beyond just romance (don't get me wrong, of course romance is important too). Do you genuinely enjoy spending time with this person? Can you be yourself around them? Are they someone you'd want to call when the sun is shining and when the storms hit as well? Remember, a strong foundation of friendship is often the cornerstone of a lasting, fulfilling relationship. So, pay attention to how you connect on a deeper, more platonic level. If you wouldn't want to be long term friends with them, you're probably not going to want to be in a long term romantic relationship with them either.&nbsp;<h3>3. Let Go of Your Imaginary Ideal </h3>It's time for some real talk. We've all been guilty of crafting a mental image of our perfect partner – the one who ticks all the boxes and fits neatly into our preconceived notions. But here's the kicker: love doesn't always come packaged the way we expect. Take it from someone who almost missed out on something really wonderful because it didn't match the picture in her head. When I met my husband, there was something about him that made me feel so safe and cherished. My husband is a good looking guy, but he didn't look anything like guys I had dated in the past so I almost passed it off as not being attracted to him. That is, until I realized that he just simply didn't match the image I had in my head. I had to make an conscious choice to let go of the fantasy in my head to allow space for the real person in front of me. And let me tell you, I'm so glad I did!So, whether you're swiping through profiles or sipping coffee across from someone new, remember these three tips: keep it low stakes, prioritize friendship, and let go of your imaginary ideal.
